YouthCAN logo and recuitment design

The participation team of Gloucestershire Youth Service required a new logo for their YouthCAN group (a network of Participation Workers for Gloucestershire). I designed a logo that represented what the group did - the sharing and building of resources and best practice, and also designed a leaflet they'd written which featured guidelines for the involvement of young people in recruitment processes.

The design was created in open source 3D application Blender, and was my first venture into attempting a depth of field effect. The effect has since been included as a standard feature of the application, but at the time, I had to fake the effect using a rather clever trick I'd picked up here: http://download.blender.org/documentation/html/x6479.html

The method involved jiggling the camera around the view axis, and rendering and blending each frame. The centre of the focus remained in the same position, but the outer area of the focus blurred, thereby producing the fake depth of field effect.

It's the type of idea which may work in the real world, and at some point I intend to experiment with a digital camera to find out.
