Below is a short overview of a workshop (or set of workshops) to introduce myself to the young people who'll be involved in the website project. It's a little difficult to write a workshop proposal when the exact details of a project are so hazy, but I think this approach is flexible enough to cope with fluctuating group numbers/skill levels/interest!
- I think the workshop days will be an opportunity for the group to:
- Introduce me to the project!
- Collect their existing ideas
- Create lists of favourite sites
- Research regularly visited user interfaces (something that will need to be introduced and explained I think)
- Introduce them to an abstraction of the tools they already use (places like Bebo, Facebook, Flickr/Photobucket, Digg etc.) in order to fit the functionality of of the site we will eventually design - this is the social networking bit, and can be a difficult concept to understand at first. I might use some of the Common Craft show's fantastic videos: http://www.commoncraft.com/show to demonstrate this.
More details when I have them!
